I hope you enjoyed your chili. If you made all of it there is no doubt there is still some left. At this point straight up chili is getting a little boring. Instead of pitching the last 2 quarts try using the chili in different ways. Here are a few simple football themed dishes you might want to try no matter who you cheer for!
Possibly the simplest of the ways to reuse this chili. Grab a bag of tortilla chips, a can of black olives, some jalapenos, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and salsa. Layer the chips and the toppings and melt the cheese on top. Remember the golden rule: If they stick together they are one nacho!
Giant Chili Cheese Dog
As the name suggests this is supposed to be a foot long hot dog. While it is not a necessity it is in the American Spirit to eat as much during the NFL playoffs. Simply heat up the dogs, place the chili, cheese and other toppings on top. I suggest fresh onions, ketchup, mayo, and hot sauce… mmmm.
Something to try: Growing up I always ate boiled hot dogs. It keeps all the juices in, avoids burning the dog and still heats it all the way through. Give it a try on your Giants’ Chili Cheese Dog.
San Francisco Rice and beans
There are plenty of brands of San Francisco instant rice dishes at your local super market. All you have to do is mix in the chili. The beans and the rice will also give you a complete protein which will make any nutritionist proud.
If you want something more simple make it with white or brown rice. This dish is called Ray Rice.
New England Patriots Baked Beans
When you’re at the super market picking up some instant rice grab a few cans of Boston Baked beans. Cook up them up with the Chili for a heartier spicier version of the traditional Boston dish.
I’m sure what ever you cook for your guests they’ll be Raven about it!
Cooking with leftovers is going to save you time and money while still eating healthy and delicious meals. Without leftovers there would be no post thanksgiving Turkey sandwich, my favorite meal of the year. What are some of your favorite left overs? Post your recipes in the comments section!
