As many of you may have read in my post ‘They call it Puppy Love‘ I am a new dog owner. I was shocked to find out that Corpus Christi doesn’t have a public dog park. I didn’t know where to let Jackie off leash and let my puppy run– she’s part Italian Greyhound so running is a constant. Luckily, I found Barkaritaville Pet Resort, an up-scale kennel, doggy daycare, and dog park. I won’t lie at first I laughed and dismissed the idea of a pet resort. But, I caved and went to visit.
Before dogs can attend they must be up to date on all their shots and health care. Also, All dogs are screened for behavioral issues at their first visit. The temperament test costs $25 which includes six hours of doggy daycare. While there I decided to take the tour. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire facility. There were three levels of luxurious kennels for dogs who are staying the night. The highest tier even includes a TV so the dog won’t be without people noise. Other options include a basic kennel with a patio. Katie, the Barkaritaville employee assured me that all dogs would be walked 3 times a day and never be without water.
The dog park is members only. It costs $25 a month with a renewing membership. All dogs may be off leash. The lawn is well kept and there are stations provided for cleaning up dog messes. The biggest draw for me is the agility course equipment. Jackie, has already started learning and loving the different elements. She has also enjoyed meeting her new friends at the dog park. It is a key entry so members can access the park at their leisure.
What I like most about Barkaritaville is that the employees are dog lovers. It is clear in the way they interact with their animals and the animals of their guests. I would trust my puppy to any of them at any time. If you are one of Camden’s many dog owners in Corpus check out Barkaritaville pet resort on Jefferson Street off of Saratoga near Weber.
