July 18th marks the opening day at the race track for the 2012 season. For those of you familiar with San Diego know that opening day at the track is our own rendition of the Kentucky Derby. Gentlemen dress in their best attire and ladies from all around San Diego come out in their finest dresses and biggest hats. Some will even participate in the annual “One and Only Truly Fabulous Hats Contest” where entrants will be judged on their style and creativity.
Del Mar anticipates over 45,000 people to come out to experience opening day, so if you plan on going make sure to prepare for a lot of traffic, a lot of people, and a lot of fun!
