Is it just me, or does summer seem to be getting hotter each year? With the solar flare, global warming or whatever you want to call it, the temperature is definitely rising! Being a Florida native, I crave some hot summer days, but sometimes you just need a little break, especially when you’re trying to keep up a fitness routine. If you’re a fellow outdoor enthusiast you can relate to what an endorphin killer the heat can be. So this summer, why not try something new?
Lately, I’ve been hitting up my home gym (AKA Camden’s Fitness Center). Using a lot of the latest fad workouts such as ‘P90X’ or ‘Insanity’ for inspiration, I’ve tried incorporating their fundamental rule which is muscle confusion (achieved through variety of movements & intervals) & eating to fuel. I’m not here to tell you what to eat, because it would be lots of things that probably aren’t considered fuel, unless you consider it an alternate form of fuel… one that gives you a reason to work-out? In that case, I can name a bunch: ice cream, cookies, pancakes, bacon (at Camden, we love bacon!)………Alright, let me get back to the main point which is staying cool while you exercise! Below is a list of links for exercise routines I have either tried myself or thought would be fun to try. Feel free to steal shamelessly!!
- Spartacus Workout : Using the free weights or just your body weight the continual movement will get your heart rate going, and build strength at the same time.
- Body-for-LIFE : This is a super quick and easy workout to fit into anyone’s busy schedule, and you can pick any machine you want. Try it on the Stair-climber for a killer body blast!!
- Insanity Sneak Peak: Shaun T. the creator of the Insanity series actually gives a brief training sesh’ of some of his awesome moves! These you can do in your living room while you watch your favorite show of the week!
