This blog is totally inspired by my awesome Assistant Manager, Gina Grogan. Gina is not only our powerhouse Assistant Manager at Camden Phipps, but she is always on the right track as far as eating habits despite my love for food, somewhat persistent suggestions to eat all things comforting, and full of calories.
One day my foodie powers were no match for Gina’s commitment to healthy snacking. I was in one of my normal moods for something crunchy, salty, and smothered in chocolate. I quickly resorted to thinking I should take a chocolate run for a giant box of Nestle’s Buncha’ Crunch, just as Gina suggested, of all things, Skinny Cow Dreamy Clusters. Can you believe it? “Skinny Cow? No way! I can’t! I won’t!,” I proclaimed to Gina. If you know Gina, you know she has the sweetest little voice no matter how pumped a person may be. She looked at me with eyeballs, like the cat from Puss in Boots and sweetly said, “Just try them.”
I apprehensively took the bag from her, pretended to struggle with the sealed package, which prompted a little “really!?” look from Gina. I had already prepared myself for some overly healthy, wheat tasting, protein packed flavor of chocolate. I took one of the chocolate morsels out of the bag and to my surprise I had bitten into my new go-to chocolate snack. The taste was just as amazing as the calorie count! Gina dug deep, found her inner five-year old and said to me, “Told ya'” right before proceeding to lease yet another apartment. That day was her day, needless to say. I even think she had her new uniform on!

Thanks to Gina, I’ve begun switching out more of my not so good snacks for healthier options.
For example, I adore cupcakes. I found a much lighter option in Angie’s Vanilla Cupcake
Kettle Corn. The light sweetness and salt are reminiscent of the butter and vanilla used when baking a cake. Simply divine! Hurry and grab this snack because it’s normally only around during the Valentine’s Day holiday or order some Angie’s Popcorn online.

Another snack I’ve switched is my obsession with banana nut muffins. I’ve found that the Banana Nut deliciousness put together by the folks over at Quaker will do just fine. I save 40 to 50 calories each time I make the swap.

I’m sure you may switch out snacks or opt for healthier eats to regulate your snack cravings too. What are some of your favorite snack swap?
